Abstract

|
Gastric volvulus is torsion of stomach, which compromise the gastric orifice and result in either acute or chronic and intermittent symptoms.
Acute volvulus of the stomach is one of the rare but most spectacular of abdominal emergencies. It presents a puzzling picture which makes early diagnosis difficult, yet surgical interference must be accomplished early if life is to be saved.
The symptoms trid of gastric volvulus are severe nausea with a paradoxical inability to vomiting, localized epigastric pain, and impossibility of introducing a stomach tube.
The diagnosis of it may be suspected on plain radiographic examination of the abdomen and symptoms, it is confirmed by specific findings on the upper gastrointestinal series.
We experienced a case of acute gastric vovulus due to diaphragmatic hernia.
Authors treated this patients with repair of diaphragmatic hernia and reported acute gastric volvulus with review of the recent literatures.
